Mazus Fairy Lights is an excellent native ground cover that can form a dense mat. The leaves are dark green and oak shaped with wavy edges. The leaves can grow up to 5 cm long. They form small rosettes from which their dainty lilac flowers arise from. The flowers appear during the warmer months from September through to April.
Mazus Fairy Lights will grow in a diverse range of environmental conditions, ranging from full sun to fully shaded areas. It grows very well in moist, well drained soil, however will also thrive in very wet and boggy positions. It has been recorded growing from south east Queensland down through all the southern states including Tasmania.
Mazus Fairy Lights will benefit from a yearly application of slow release fertiliser applied in Spring.
Mazus Fairy Lights can be used as a dense ground cover. It is an excellent choice for wet and boggy areas and it can be used as a marginal wetland plant for creeks, streams, dams and ponds. It is an excellent plant to fill gaps between pavers, sleepers and stepping stones.
